Is it a good idea to get Norton System works, and install it?
I wouldn't. System Works is virtually unnecessary under WinXP, and could very well end up causing far more problems than it might prevent/repair. Properly configured and managed, it had a few useful functions under Win9x, but is nowhere near foolproof with XP.
I uninstall it on any XP system I service . . it slows most systems to a crawl and seems to do nothing that XP does not do. For those of you who use it . .what benefits do you observe?

I hate to say it again, but I will. Using the Advanced Forum Search on the left, 8250 would find that users get SystemWorks for two things - Ghost (part of Pro) and Antivirus. As Simpswr says, nothing else in the package is really needed with XP. This is talked about in many posts.
