Not valid add-in

I used the Files & Settings Transfer Wizard to transfer my *pst details from my old Win 98 computer, where they were stored on a D: drive.

All info, addresses, etc., came across all right, but now when I open Outlook on the new computer, I get the message "C:\Documents and Settings\ ..... D:\Program Files\Office\SBCMSYNC.DLL is not a valid Office add-in".

I click okay and everything seems to work as it should; but how can I get rid of the message? And will it turn out that I need this .DLL file? It has not stored itself on the new computer but I guess I could transfer it if that is advised. I will be very grateful for some help.

Thanks for the advice. Although I followed the procedure suggested in that article, my problem remained.  I eventually fixed it, to my own surprise, by removing all the connections I was using and starting from scratch. When all else fails, try something really simple!  Thanks again.

I am experiencing the exact same problem you describe. When you say you removed all connections you were using and started from scratch...what do you mean exactly? I'm not really too knowledgeable with the terminology, so give it to me simple :-)

Thanks!

Gee, that's a year ago and I didn't take notes. My memory is that I disconnected the wizard, removed the cable I had used to link the two computers, deleted the file I had transferred to the new computer, and then loaded the old file to a 256Mb USB-drive portable memory device  (like a memory stick) and plugged that into the new computer to transfer the file that way. There are lots of those devices about, and each is, in efffect, an independent extra drive. You can find details of the one I use at www.usbdrive.com, but, as always, shop around. I hope this is helpful.
