Now unable to copy pics to Cd using Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Basic

Our pc came with roxio easy CD creator 5 basic when we purchased it .  We used to be able to use the software to copy pictures to CDs. However, we can no longer do that. When you go to the ECDC options, that is no longer one of them (the buton on the menu is gray, not black).  When we used to copy them to CDs we used the task bar to the left on the Pics screen to "copy to CD". but now neither that nor opening Roxio and using that directly works.
I tried going to the roxio forums for an answer, but no luck.
I went to Roxio's website for tech support, but was told that since the software came with our pc and not purchased directly from them, I would have to contact Dell and they  would provide complimentary tech support . But after contancting  Dell, I was  told I would have to call Roxio.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the software (also used the clean uninstall from their website) but without luck

I have a lot of pictures I would like to move to CDs before one of our kids does something irreparable to our computer and we lose them forever.

Does anyone have any idea what could've possibly happened to cause this, or what I need to do to correct the problem? Any websites that might possibly have the answer?

wishiunderstood,

I can't help with the EZCD problem but you don't need that software to copy the pictures to your CD. See this.

I think this only affect XP built in Write to CD , if you right click on a Folder/file & "Send To ..." > ... doesn't show CD drive then double click on "My Computer" , right click on CD drive , select Properties > Recording & tick "Enable CD recording ...."
------------------
Edit:
"My Pictures" , "Copy to CD" is a function of XP Explorer & is affected by above.
It isn't a function of ROXIO.
ROXIO "Direct CD" should work if you have installed a CD that has been Formated with ROXIO "Direct CD".

To add, if you haven't done it, update the Roxio.  There are several fixes that have been done since it was first introduced and one of the fixes is required with Windows XP, SP1.  www.roxio.com (make sure you download the updates for the version you have and if it came from Dell with a PC it is Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Basic).

But, I don't recall the Basic version having the Picture or slide show option, just on the Platinum version.  But, all you need is the "make a data CD" function to copy pictures to a CD-R.

I agree I have ROXIO Basic updated & I couldn't see any "Copy pictures to CD" , so I assumed he was using ROXIO to open "My Pictures" Folder then select Picture & click on "Copy to CD" from "My Pictures" Menu on Left.
