Ntfs.sys problem - Windows XP Set-Up CD doesn't load
I'm experiencing the "missing or corrupt: System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys" error message after the dell.com BIOS page loads when I start up my computer. No BSOD, just the black background and error message. All the solutions require being able to boot the XP CD and accessing the "Welcome to Setup" menu. So I acquired the reinstallation CD from Dell and tried to do that.
But when I use F12 choose to boot from CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive, nothing happens. I can hear the CD spin for a couple seconds then it stops and I end up getting the "missing or corrupt: System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys" error message again.
My brother suggested using a command prompt to enter "CHKDSK /R" but even running the system in Safe Mode with or without Command Prompt has been useless since it just can't seem to get past the same "missing or corrupt" error.
So, some questions.
1. Is there something wrong with my Dell reinstallation CD?
2. How can I get to a point where I can enter a command?
3. How can I get the CD to successfully boot and bring up the "Welcome to Setup" menu?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You could try changing the boot device order in the BIOS to set the CD-ROM as the first. Have you seen this:

Thank you, VCraig! After switching the CD-Drive to the top I was able to load the XP CD and fix the problem.
