Obtaining a Windows XP disk for a used Dell computer

Question

I am about to purchase a Dell computer from the my employer.  The computer will have its hard drive wiped clean, so I need to either purchase or replace Windows.  I was told it might be possible to get a replacement Windows disk from Dell.    Is this true?  Would either my employer or myself as the new owner be able to get a copy?

Ask the employer to request the CD's you need from Dell.   If the PC is still under warranty, you can transfer ownership to yourself by using this link, then you can request the CD's on your own behalf.  http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?c=us&l=en&s=gen&dn=1011182   If the PC is out of warranty, then the original owner is the only person that has a chance of requesting the CD's you need, otherwise you need to purchase a copy of Windows.
