Odd problem on Amazon pages /IE6

Hi - Not sure if this is a software or hardware issue.

Starting two days ago many Amazon pages begin to jump and down constantly one lines-worth.  Not all pages but many, often ones when they display "Both Together" types of offers give me a problem.  The screen is normal when first loaded and viewed at very top, but I can tell when there's going to be a problem because I can see the vertical scroll bar flickering.  If I scroll down half way, from that point on the entire rest of the page is going up and down once every second or so.  There is usually some sentence either jumping up/down or disappearing completely and reappearing again, rhythmically every second or two, as if someone hit the Enter key and then the Delete key over and over again.

There's also quite a lag between the time the pages appear to fully load and the time one can actually access the page.  (This has been ever since they started redesigning their site, which stinks, but never had the jumping issue until two days ago.)

I tried with my husbands laptop and they appeared normal there.  I also had my sister try who has almost the identical system as I do (same Dell model and video card/driver) and she did not see it either.

I have not noticed any problems on any other websites, but I can't
find anyone else noticing this issue on Amazon.  (I use Amazon a lot and it's driving me nuts.)

I have WinXP with IE6, 768RAM, nVidia GeForce3 Ti200 with updated drivers.  I
disabled all Browser Helpers, but that didn't change anything.  I installed the latest Flash, no help.  I lowered Hardware Acceleration, no help.   I know the card is outdated but I wasn't having any issues.

I was wondering if people wouldn't mind checking out a few of the
sample links and post back what they find (or don't find.)  On rare occasions they seem OK even on my system, but not for long.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

Thanks-
Vickie

Thank you for posting your message at the Dell Community Forums.

I didn't notice anything strange with the links, not sure what is going on. Are you still having problems with the pages?

The problem is still continuing.  I can still use the site, so it's not the end of the world, but it is really hard to read things or try and zero in on a little button to click if the page happens to be one that's has the contents jumping up and down.  Seems to be only my system.  haven't seen anyone else mention it.

I tried the links with no problem. The only site you have an issue with is amazon and IE6 works elsewhere with no problems. So the common denominator in your case seems to be amazon.

Try this, tools>internet options>advanced tab>make sure " use smooth scrolling" is checked.

Try firefox and see if problem remains.

Thanks for the smooth scrolling tip, tomron.  I think I tried that once before without success but I'l try it again.  Strangely, at this moment the problem is not occurring without smooth scrolling selected.  It wierd that it's not consistent on the exact same pages.  For example, yesterday this page was driving me nuts, today it's OK so far.  http://www.amazon.com/Raising-Robert-Plant-Alison-Krauss/dp/B000UMQDHC/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-0321046-0327878?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1194432407&sr=8-1

Ok, it started acting up again, so I'm selecting the smooth scrolling option.  I'll keep it selected and see what happens.  Sometimes I'll leave the page open for a few minutes and it starts up.

The problem is only with Amazon.  Haven't seen it once elsewhere.

I'll post back if this seems to take care of the problem.

Thanks again-
