OE Server Time-out On Large File Uploads

Any suggestions on (1) how to fix Outlook Express, or (2) better email
client that can handle large file (5mb) uploads without timing out on dialup
connection?

I've adjusted the server time-out slider on OE to it's max...5 min.  (Tools>Accounts>All>Properties>Advanced).

 I'veGoogled other sites without success.

I found this subject discussed on this forum, but the URL link suggested for an answer appears to be dead.

Thanks in advance for any help, thoughts, or wisdom you care to share.

Cheers,
Jim

Never heard of that before. weird.

I use Netscape and I've never had a problems sending or receiving email(up to 5Mb in size).

note that most POP servers only allow 5 Mb 'inboxes' for users; also if you upload a binary file, it has to uuencode it -- so it will get 20% larger.

Thanks all for taking the time to read my call for help.

A user in another NG pointed me to the following for a registry fix....seems others have had this problenm before:

http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=FAQ&file=index&myfaq=yes&id_cat=8&categories=Troubleshooting&parent_id=0#8

(May have to paste URL together)

Tried what was suggested below on a test file, and works great!

Thanks again,

Jim

"·  How do I increase the timeout value in Outlook Express beyond 5 minutes?

For YahooPOPs to work without timeout on long messages, you need to set the server timeout to as long as possible. But Outlook Express allows a maximum timeout of 5 minutes. This can be increased by editing the registry. Start REGEDIT and find this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Account Manager\Accounts\0000000c

Now there is a DWORD value POP3 Timeout. It is in seconds. You can set it to any value, for eg:

    15 minutes -> 900 (decimal) or 384 (hex)
    20 minutes -> 1200 or 4b0

NOTE: 1) Try this hack at your own risk. 2) The account number (0000000c) might be different on your PC.
