OE Unsafe Attachments

I don't now if this is the same as the message posted on 1/9/04, but I receive the following specific message when an e-mail comes in with an attachment:  "OE removed the following unsafe attachment in your mail."  My question is whether OE has it's own criteria for removing attachments: if so, what are they?  If OE does not have it's own criteria, then is it something in my "Settings?"

Here's a MS article of what is blocked with Outlook 2002 and how it can be modified, go down to Level 1 ("unsafe").

Chuket, I appreciate your prompt reply re OE Unsafe Attachments.  I was remiss, however, not to specify that I have Windows '98.  Do the same instructions apply, or was there nothing available for the '98 edition?  Overall, though, the process looks like a pretty risky one to attempt and perhaps I would be better off not to fight OE on this score.

That info was only to show you what MS considered "unsafe". I presume you are using IE6. That list of unsafe extensions 'probably' is used in all their  patches/fixes for all their updates (just guessing). If you are using  Outlook 2002 it would apply.

You are not looking for this information, are you?  You should make sure you have up to date virus software running before turning off this feature.

Yes, ps Kelly, I believe the article you sent me to is specifically relevant to MSOE 6.0 for Windows 98 and covers what I was looking for.  I'm not totally literate when it comes to some of the terminology, but considering the caveats I will probably not tinker with the program.  Thank you for your help, appreciate it much.
