I went to the Microsoft Office XP downloads page and ordered a CD version of Office ProXP Win32 English Patch CD SP3. It would have taken me 12 hours to download it. They are sending it to me free of charge.
I went to the officeupdate site and it offered me SP3 for office. Thing is this machine has Microsoft Works, and not any specific 'Office' software. Is SP3 for Office also applicable to Works?
I ordered the only CD I could find on the web site. When it comes I will see whether it is compatible with XPHome. I have a 49 kbps connection. What speed are you downloading with for your 2 hour download?
I have a 56K Modem..but I have slowed its operation down...I would have to check into my Device Manager to know exactly but I Clicked it down about 3-knotches...
There is a LINK to add MS-Office UpDates to Win.UpDates...I have not done that I just go to Office UpDates and Click its UPDATE Scan...
I have MS-Works Suite 2003.....you may have much more to rguire the larger DownLoad.....
XP-Home is identical to XP-Pro.....except.....XP-Pro is all about a Networking-Environment.....I would look at XP-Pro as some future upgrade but installing the proper Office Update should be looked into......Office will Scan your PC to Install an Update....just write down the Info of the Update and Check it against what you recieve in the mail....
but the SP-2 update went from 4-hours to 20-minutes via the CD-mailed from MS......

XP SP1 and SP2 update only the operating system. All applicable Office XP updates should be installed also.

My CD came from Microsoft.
It had the Full file (Office XP Service Pack 3) 5.0.2919.6304 (76.8 MB)
It also had the Standard file (Office XP Service Pack 3) Sp3cdop.exe (21.6 MB)
I haven't installed either one yet. Any ideas?
