Open File Security Warning -- IE 7 beta 3

Question

I decided to test IE7 on a machine and I think it's working well. The only real annoyance I've seen is that the 'Open File Security Warning' message comes up when I don't think it should. With SP2, this message appeared when clicking on exe files and the like -- usually ones that had been downloaded. After installing IE7 beta 3 I am getting this message when opening files off of local network shares. More specifically, I'm getting it when I try to open access databases on a shared drive. If anyone knows how to turn this message off for specific file types or how to tell it not to occur for files in particular intranet zones, that would be helpful. Thanks

There is quite a bit of additional default security tightening in IE 7 compared to IE 6, so I expect this is one of those (I don't have a network so had not come across it).

Yes, you need to change the IE7 user agent string so this site thinks you're using IE6, in order to be able to access the WYSIWYG message editor. That's not the fault of IE7, but of Lithium technologies for not having provided a patch to their software. The same is true of other forums that use Lithium Technolgies software, e.g. Zone Alarm forum.   Use the .reg file at   http://www.fiddlertool.com/useragent.aspx   You have to do this after each uninstall/reinstall of IE 7 beta versions. Message Edited by JRosenfeld on 07-01-200608:41 PM

It's not bad overall, though this is the first IE7 beta I've tried.   Can't access any of the formatting options in this forum (right above where you normally type your message).  I feel like someone's brought that issue up before though.

Same thing, but I prefer to give a link to the fiddlertool page rather than a download link, in case people want to read the background info about the fix.
