open Works spreadsheet in Excel

I have spreadsheets created in Works 4.5 that I saved when I reset my operating system to factory state.  Did not reload Works 4.5 but new Excel 2003 instead.  Excel cannot open the Works sheets.  Is there any way to retrieve this data without reloading Works 4.5?

From what I can find, doing a google search, and looking at my Excel, you have two options.  Reinstall Works and save it as a compatible file or this company makes a conversion program. http://www.rl-software.com/converter/wks-wdb-to-excel-converter.htm

BTW, if you have MS Works or Office application questions, post them in the MS Works/Office section of the forum, not this Operating System section, as your question is not an Operating System issue. Both programs are separate from the OS, not part of the OS.

I don't know but, Excel 2003 has the ability to read Microsoft Works 2.0 files.  Open Excel, then File Open, and make sure the "File Types" in the "Open" dialog is set to "All FIle" or "Microsoft Works 2.0 Files."  I haven't tried it but that is what is in Excel.
