Geez, I thought the question was - how to make Internet Explorer open maximized - not which other browsers are there to use.
The answer to the question is open Internet Explorer and maximize the Window using the Maximize box in the upper the right. Make sure all other browser windows are closed, then hold down the shift key and click on the X in the upper left corner of the window to close the Window. Internet Explorer will remember the setting and the next time you open it, it will open maximized.
Thanks to Steve [Volcano11], but instructions were confusing. Instructions were tohold down shift key and click on the X in the upper left corner of the window to close the window. The only X I see is the red X in the upper right corner which closes window. Appreciate your help.
Thanks to Denny and Volcano11. Followed instructions, but web pages continue to open up in minimized window, necessitating maximizing each time I open different web page. Options?
Did you make sure all other browser windows were closed when you closed Internet Explorer by holding down the shift key and clicking the X in the upper right (thanks Denny)?
How do I set Windows XP to open web pages with maximized screen, thereby eliminating having to click the "maximize" icon each time I access additional web sites?

Thanks for responding to my last problem
but it still hapeens happens when i visit various web sites. I have to click on the max button every time i go onto a new website.
Explorer "remembers" the last size of the last screen you close. SO....if you open multilple screens the last one you close must be maximized. However, if you ever close a screen in the "restore down" position explorer will open the new screen "restore down".

volcano11 meant the "Close" X in the upper right corner of the screen.
