Made back up cd of operating system for Windows xp home version. Comp crashed. Ran the cd to get back running. Lost software that came installed on the comp. Sonic, vidieo decoder cant play DVD's How do I get back the original software without spending 100.00

The hardware is under warrenty but the software isn't the tech support advised me to go to the forum and seek help. Or it would cost $99.00 to have them go thru the manual step by step process. I get an error PL4013 when I try to play a DVD and I can't even get to the dell os pc restore function I lost Sonic Record Now and lost my DVD decoder.

Backeagle:

Two things. First, if you are still under warranty, you should order the discs so you can reinstall your OS.

The second issue is your DVD problem. For that, I suggest you post over in the CD/DVD forums, and please mention your system and drive model and the DVD software you are using to watch DVDs.

OK here is the problem I went through all the links and tried useing the dell os pc restore I can't even get the thing to bring up the words pc restore if I hold the ctrl and f11 keys down I read info but no pc restore and a message says keyboard error no error code or anything.If I release the two keys everything disapears  and goes right back to the windows start up. This is getting old and dell customer support told me to do the same thing but nothing works.      HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
