Outlook Express 6 Question

I have a friend who keeps all inbox messages for many, many months until I go to her house and actually clean it out for her.  I have just spoken with her on the phone and she tells me today her inbox messages were all listed alphabetically from the very first one she received until the present.  She convinced me it really does look like that by using me as an example.  My name shows up as Bessie on the emails I send her.  The one at the top was last October and so on to yesterday!  I am unable to reproduce this situation on my computer.  I can, of course, cause the new messages to be at the bottom or top when I click on the little arrow but I cannot make it fully alphabetical.  I must be missing something.  I want to reproduce it so I can tell her how to fix hers.  She purchased an XPS T 410  (if my memory serves me right as to the exact number) last October.  Those messages have been building up since then.  Can anyone either tell me how to fix the way her inbox shows messages or convince me she is just imagining things?

I know this is a crazy question but I really need help with this.  She is fighting cancer and needs all the help she can get in all areas.  She doesn't need problems like this.

Thanks,
Bessie

Clicking on the top header in each field sorts the whole field. Click again to reverse the order. Tell her to make other folders to keep mail in for better organization.

Not sure what you mean by 'when I click on the little arrow', but you can sort by any column by clicking on the column title (e.g. click on the From column title to sort by name, or right click in it and select sort ascending or decending whichever you want). You can show more columns by right clicking on the column title bar, click columns, in the box that opens check the ones you want, click OK..

You can also go to View/sort by, I use the "received" "ascending" setting

Thanks for all the help.    The little arrow I was writing about was what I see in my "date" column.  I had not tried to change any other column but now see what she did to make it that way.  She has trouble with her mouse - never could keep it under control - so guess that is what got her messed up this time.  Thanks to all of you for setting me straight.  Like a dummy I feel!!

Mary:  Your idea is great and I did that for her on her old computer and showed her how to keep it going.  That is where it stopped.  She just doesn't understand and has convinced me she will never learn more than she knows right now about computers.  She does like to correspond with her friends via email, however, and I am glad she can do that.  I have also shown her many times how to delete messages but she forgets; when she decides to do it she finds she has forgotten how!  But I love her anyhow.

Again, thanks to all.
