outlook express not deploying

  Dear forum members,

My outlook express 6 email program no longer works with a hotmail account that is my primary user address.  It was working fine yesterday but not today.  I can't recall the exact error message number or the phrase but I removed the account and reinstalled it but it won't work.  I am using a Dell dimensions desktop 4550 with Win XP home ed.  I have about 1gb of ram.  My ISP is verizon dsl.  If you can help with this I would be very happy to hear from you.

Did you try a "System Restore" ??  That would have been the first thing to try.  System Restore can be accessed under Accessories/System Tools.  Restore the PC back to an available restore date when it was working OK.

Hi fireberd,

Tried a system restore and failed.  I tried turning off restore on my external drives and by doing that I totally wiped out any earlier restore points.  The restore date I tried was July 22nd and that one failed.

The error message I have from OE 6: is Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server.  Account: 'Hotmail', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: 'This operation is not permitted for this type of client.', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 1203, Socket Error: 122, Error Number: 0x800CCCF7

Ahh, accessing hotmail using O.E. or Outlook.  I just recently saw another post and that user could no longer access Hotmail from O.E.  I have the same problem with Outlook 2003.  At one time I could access hotmail but no longer.  Check out the Help files on hotmail as they have info on if it still works or not (it no longer works on Outlook 2003) and what needs to be done if it does still work.

You might have missed the notification that Hot mail will no longer work with Outlook.
