Outlook express problems

  Hi forum people,

Lately when I go to open my Outlook Express I've been getting error code 0x80004005,183 stating that Outlook Express couldn't be started. How can I fix this problem?  I recently wen to add remove windows programs and remove outlook express and then reinstalled it.  I was working ok for a day or two but again just moments the error came up.
Any and all replies to this problem would be appreciated.

Jim4mor,

This problem has been reported when using Windows Desktop Search 3.0.  If you uninstall/reinstalled Outlook Express, you probably need to uninstall the Windows Desktop Search and/or the MSN toolbar since it was originally part of the MSN toolbar.  Windows Desktop Search 3.01 is available here:  http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=917013

Please note that the maximum size of a default Outlook Express folder; i.e., Inbox, Outbox, Sent Items, or Deleted Items is 2Gb.  Some have also reported the error when the number of messages in one of these folders approaches 3Gb.  I see this problem quite often with engineering firms who keep large numbers of received e-mails with large attachments such as AutoCad drawings or PDF documents containing aerial photographs.

Since you reinstalled Outlook Express, I would be interested in knowing if you imported your old messages.
