Outlook Express - Slow to Open

I have a Dell Dimension 4400, SP 2. When I try to open Outlook Express it seems to take forever. It will, after several minutes, open. I have deleted the Sent Items and Deleted Items files. I then Compacted All folders. This usually speeds it up, but this time it does not help. Do I need to run some type of repair? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply, Flooby
I followed the instructions for reinstalling Outlook Express. This did not help. I reinstalled Win XP SP2 and this did not help either.
There is one other thing, when I go to log off, I get the message that msmsgs.exe is not responding. Could this have any effect on the operation of Outlook Express?
Is it possible that I just need to reinstall Win XP? Thanks.

I don't know what happened, but a message poped up on my screen which stated: "Microsoft Outlook Express 6 has been removed from this computer. Do you want to clean up ypur personalized settings for this program?". I clicked - yes. Ever since my Outlook Express has been opening as it should. Thanks anyway.
