Copy the entire folder containing the *.mbx files to removable media. Open Outlook Express on the new computer and go to File|Import|Messages|Microsoft Outlook Express 4 and point the import facility at the folder containing the *.mbx files.
When dealing with *.dbx files the entire folder must be copied because it includes the file folders.dbx which contains pointers to all the other files and if any files are missing the import will fail. I'm assuming that the same holds true with the OE4 *.mbx fils. You have the option, though, of creating a folder on the new computer and copying all the individual .mbx files into it, then pointing the import facility at that.
Does the entire folder have to be copied.
The entire folder is about 150 mb and my zip drive only handles 100 mb.
The power supply on that computer is only 95watts.
Doubt if it can handle a cd burner.
The important part of that document is the following under Symptoms:
When you attempt to import mail messages from Outlook Express 4 into Outlook Express 5, the option to import messages may not be available.
You are not attempting to import from OE4 into OE5 and I presume that unless your copy of OE6 is far different from mine when you go to File|Import|Messages you do have Microsoft Outlook Express 4 as an option.
I'm afraid I can't offer any suggestions. OE4 is currently nearly eight years old and OE5 is nearly six years old. As I recall, updating a system to IE5 (with OE5 included) should allow updating the message store to *.dbx but I am not certain of this.
