Thank you so much.  I'm pretty desperate at this point, I'll try this for the meantime.  :smileyvery-happy:

Until you get it sorted out correctly, you can try MailWasher from here and delete them before they get to your download account:

If this works, it is only a bandaid until the real reason is discovered.

I know that you said that the emails aren't visible through Webmail, but let's just check something.  In Tools | Accounts | Mail | | Properties | Advanced, you don't have "Leave a copy of messages on server." checked, do you?

Actually I didn't think about that but I looked and its not selected.  hmmm, I have no other idea what it could be.  Thanks for your suggestion though:smileyhappy:

I'd not be too hasty to let your ISP off the hook.  I'd temporarily install another POP3 client, for example Mozilla Thunderbird.  If it also retrieves the old emails then your ISP's Mail Server is at fault, despite the fact that its Webmail client does not show the old emails.

Now that was a good idea.  I downloaded Incredimail because I was going to download it anyway and guess what?  It done the same thing.  Now I'll just have to call Charter back and tell them that it might actually be something with their servers.  Thanks!

Okay I'm going to give you an update and you can tell me what you think.  I went to my webmail and checked my messages and deleted ALL OF THEM.  Then I opened up Outlook Express 30 minutes later and and received the same messages I just deleted.  What do you think, server or computer problem?

I'd say server problem.  Strange as it sounds, these things can sometimes be caused by the content of one particular message e.g. an asynchronous server-side process attempts to delete all the emails marked for deletion but then fails on one of them and aborts, leaving all the messages intact.

Given the symptoms and your repro with a 2nd POP3 client, your ISP should have enough to go on.

Thanks for all your help.  I'll see what they can do.

Hi I was dealing with the same problem. On a guess I thought about the Spam blocker in the Mcafee software. It keeps a copy of Both Blocked and Accepted email. I went and had it delete all the emails in both of those categories and no more repeat email. Hope this is of some help to ya.

Wow, that's interesting [read "bad"].  Another black mark for Mcafee, perhaps.

Hello everyone.  I'm new to the boards - brought here by this exact same problems.  Started either yesterday or Sunday.  I'm getting email from 3/30, and now have a total of 22.

I do suspect it has something to do with McAfee but it's updated and I do not know what else to try.  Some are emails I sent to myself on this computer with photos attached, and nothing (of course) shows in my outbox.

Yes, I believe so.  I'll try that next.  Will report back! :smileyhappy:

Okay, it's disabled so I'll see what happens tomorrow.  Thanks for the assistance.  May need more, but hope not!

Welcome!  Are you able to disable Mcafee temporarily?  That would help to clear up whether or not it's the source of the problem.

Well yesterday I removed SpamKiller since I didn't like it anyway and (crossing my fingers) it hasn't happened today.  I would have never thought that would be the problem but thank you so much for mentioning it.  It hasn't happened yet today so that is a very good sign!:smileyhappy:
