Panel buttons occasionally stop working

This isn't a huge problem as much as it is annoying. My Dell Inspiron 20 3052's side panel buttons control the brightness and sleep the screen. However, all three of these buttons will occasionally stop working completely, with the only fix being a restart. The motherboard was recently swapped and the issue persists. This must be software. What could be causing it and how do I fix it? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Hi Ethan Weegee,

Thanks for posting.

Were you able to upgrade the BIOS when you swapped motherboards?  Try updating to the latest BIOS driver:  http://dell.to/2uJRNnz

I would not like to upgrade the BIOS. The reason the motherboard had to be swapped in the first place is because of a failed BIOS update pushed by Dell Update, so I feel more comfortable not touching that. The BIOS is on version 3.8.3 right now.
