PC restore- clarification ?

situation:

I purchased a Dell laptop with MS office 2003 pre-installed on it and recently I have a BSOD due to a faulty driver update. The Ctrl+F11, PC restore, is supposed to take the computer "back to factory settings" and fix the BSOD. I do not have any of the driver/ dell provided reinstallation CD's, and I just want to make sure that doing PC restore is not going to remove MS Office. I have no means of reinstalling it.

If it’s only a corrupt/faulty system driver – there are less extreme methods to fix BSOD?

 

If PC Restore (DSR utility) is installed & works, the DSR utility will:

 

1. Wipe everything from Hard Drive partition that contained ALL Dell preinstalled software

2. Then restore ALL Dell preinstalled (out-of-box) software

 

If MS Office 2003 was preinstalled then it will be contained in DSR image partition & restored

 

But ALL software, folders & files created/added after computer purchase will be deleted/wiped/lost

Includes ALL personal data, word, excel etc. type documents, e-mail files, photos, etc…

 

If you are the registered owner you can try requesting backup discs from Dell here

If outside USA (Danke Schon – hmmm – could be Germany?), contact Dell local region

I could be wrong but doubt backup discs include all Dell OEM preinstalled software applications e.g. OEM version of MS Office 2003 – but since you paid for the licence???
