pci simple communications controller

Question

I just had to buy a new drive and load XP from the install CD. I am getting a ? in the device mgr. for 'pci simple communications controller'. Does anyone know what this is or what driver it might be looking for? I believe, based on some research, it has something to do with the dial-up modem installed. Thanks

Very likely the modem . . you can click on the Drivers & Downloads on the left of this page to navigate to drivers for your model

I start to get frustrated. I'm having a problem with the PCI controllers and also with ethernet controller too. I can't find a driver for my PC which is a dell dimension 3000 Can somebody help me

I'm not very savvy when it comes to this stuff, but when I go to the drivers and downloads page, I don't find anything that says PCI Simple Communications Controller....  Am I missing something?    Thanks for any help!   Mugs
