Is there possibly a lock/switch on it?  That happened to me once and the button was slipped into the lock position.

Thanks for that but it is not locked I have got so frustrated with it I have contacted the provider, I will wait to see what they have to say! Thanks

Do a properties on it in Explorer, is it formatted?
