Photo Gallery Viewer Error

Hi,

I have a Dimension 9200 running Vista Home Premium.

It came installed with a 60 day trial of Corel Snapfire Plus, so each time I opened a picture file it opened into this, which is not what I wanted.

I then set up Windows Photo gallery as my defualt picture viewer, but now I cannot view any pictures.

I can open the My Pictures folder and see all the thumbnails, or I can open Windows Photo Gallery and see the thumbnails. the problem comes when I click on any of the thumbnails to open it up and view it.

In Photo Gallery I get the following message when I click on an image: "An error is preventing Windows Photo Gallery Viewer from opening".

From the My Pictures folder the Windows Phot Gallery window opens up but nothing appears in the frame, when I move the cursor over it it just spins around in "waiting" mode.

Has anyone any ideas please.

Thanks
Martin

Try uninstalling Snapfire to see if that helps. Then reboot and hopefully Vista will use Photo Gallery as the default viewer. If that doesn't work, we'll try something else.

Hi,

I've uninstalled the Corel Snapfire program and re-booted, but the problem remains. Still getting the same error message.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Go to Start>Defualt Programs (on the right side of the menu). Click 'Set your default programs'. Click 'Windows Photo Gallery' in the list of programs, then 'Set this program as default'.
Hopefully this should solve the problem. Try a reboot, just to be sure.

Hi,

Thanks for your help on this.

I hva efound a solution by going in command prompt and using sys/scan.
