Please help uninstall Panda Platinum 2006

I've tried probably 10 different ways to manually uninstall the trial version of 2006 Panda Platinum Internet Security. The normal methods, Control Panel/Add/Delete and the "uninstall" option when you choose the software with start/programs does not work. Nothing happens when you choose "uninstall".  I've gone to the geek/virus forums and they've offered help to manually uninstall but no method has worked. Thought I might try the Dell forums. I have a Dell Dimension 2350 running XP home edition 5.1, service pack 1.

I want to bring my machine up to the current Windows (SP2) and install my cable ISP's security suite but I cannot until I get all the spyware off my machine. Any ideas?

I don`t know what the 10 different ways are that you have tried, but here is what I`d do.

Add/Remove Programs does not work.
1  Go to Start/All Programs and find the entry for it.  Hover your mouse over it. Sometimes a menu drops down with an uninstall option in it.

2  Go to its folder on the hard drive and look for an uninstall option.  It will be called something like "un******.exe or similar.  It will be an "exe" file.

3  If these don`t work, go back to its folder on hard drive and install it again on top of itself into the same folder.  Then go to Add/Remove Programs and see if the uninstaller works.

Some of what I tried are in this thread, it turns into a Panda issue.

Some of the other things are manual removal instructions found on other forums.

As for your suggestions, we have tried all those. Panda does have the "uninstall" option from the "Start/Prgrams" method, but it does nothing when you choose it. I have also gone to the folder and chosen the uninstall. My son did redownload the program and tried again, to no avail. At one time, a message would come up when you chose "uninstall" that said "setup.exe" has to close. I believe that has since gone away, but tonight, I'll try all those optioins again to see if I'm getting an error message and have just forgotten about it.

Appreciate the reply.

Try sending an e-mail to Panda support and ask them for help in removing the program.  The address is available from their web site.  I had to go that route when I was trying to remove the 2006 version of Panda Platinum from my system after it proved incompatible with my Dell Dimension 8100/XP Pro configuration - long boot-up cycle, long shut-down cycle, interference with installed applications (I suspect Panda just finally got too bloated to be useful).  The Windows add/remove option did not work correctly with the Panda installation.  Panda was pretty quick in helping me delete the program and its remnants, and even in getting a refund for the purchase price.

I sent an email a month ago. Got a reply back wanting to know details about my "purchase". I assumed from this they don't support the trial version, but I can try again. I mentioned in my first email it was the trial version I had downloaded.

If you can`t find a way to uninstall it you will just have to do it the "dirty" way.

Make sure it is not running and if there is an icon in the system tray, exit that.  It must be totally shut down.
Then delete its folder from your hard drive.

Next go to Start/Search and search your whole system for "Panda" and delete all it finds.

You must then run a registry cleaner.
Here is a good free one.  Before running it, check in "Options" to make sure it is going to backup all it removes, just in case of errors.

That should remove it for you
