Plug & Play Configuration Error

Upon start-up of my Dell 8100 and before XP log-in, I get the message "Plug & Play Configuration Error".  It provides no details. 

I have added no additional software or hardware for some time.

How do I find out what the source of the problem is?

Please check Event Viewer (Start - > Settings -> Control Panel - >
Administrative Tools - > Event Viewer) for possible errors.
