Poor m1710 7950GTX performance? Is this normal?

Hey guys. I have a new m1710 with a 7950GTX go running under Vista Home Premium where I just did a fresh install. I installed all the Dell drivers and have been trying to benchmark the card under 3dmark05. I can only get around 8200 points. I was expecting at least 1000 points over this score. Is this normal performance under Vista or do I have a bum card? Thanks.

I would also like to know the answer to this? I scored only 5K in 3Dmark06 and that seemed pretty low to me.

Ok, solved. I installed video drivers from laptopvideo2go.com 100.5x series and I installed 3dmark06 which updated a directx9 component. I'm assuming that the driver was the problem because everything scored normally after that. ~5200-5300 3dmark06 and ~9300 3dmark05 with my core clocked at 2.8ghz. Hope that helps you also. Apparently it's just a bad set of Dell drivers.

Laptop cards score lower than desktop cards. That card will most likely score around 8,9k in 05. My 7600GT scores 6400 in 05.

Hey Groove, where did you say you found the 100.5x drivers at.. i cant seem to find them on laptopvideo2go.com.  Not only that but any software I try to install from nvidia says the hardware isn't detected even though i try to install the 7 series.

Keep in mind that it's a beta driver though... You might have issues in some games. I haven't run across any yet though.

These are the ones that I used:

You have to download and extract the driver package along with the modified nv_disp.inf file. Extract the driver package and overwrite the .inf with the new modified .inf. Then run setup and it should detect your card and install the drivers.
