Popup at Startup

I am enjoying my new computer Dimension E310.

I have uninstalled some of the software that came with it. Everything was just fine until I started getting this pop up every time I start my computer. It says:

Sonic Update Manager – “The feature you are trying to use is on a CD_ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the Sonic Update Manager disk and click OK.”

I have to hit the cancel button for many times before the popup goes away. I am not trying to install anything. I have no idea what’s with the “disk?” Any suggestions on what should I do to have this pop up go away when I start my computer? I have run the msconfig, but I didn't see anything that said "Sonic". Since I know enough to be dengerous I thought I better leave things alone. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Go to Task Manager (right click on the Task Bar) and look here for something Sonic. If you see anything you don't recognize, look here

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/Cat-B.html or here

http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/ctsvccda/

to identify.

I had problems with Sonic and finally uninstalled and got Nero. I think the free version is programmed to get worse with time so ytou purchase the upgrade. I kept losing functions.

I have seen other posts about Sonic. Do a search at the bottom of this page.

Go to the Roxio website and download the Sonic hotfix specific for Dell PCs. That should put an end to this stupid problem. If you can't find the hotfix, search the Dell Software-Other Sofware forum. The link to the Sonic update has been posted several times in the last week or three.

Did you try putting in the cd labeled Dell Software re-install cd? I think the software that it is looking for should be on that disk. You can also re-install sonic from that cd as well.

I just spotted the link to the Sonic hotfix:
http://tools.roxio.com/support/dell/isum_hotfix.exe

If that doesn't do it, you may also need to run Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, free from Microsoft, here:

Thank you very much for the feed back. I tried the link, and different things. Nothing worked, but I did get help from customer support. They will be mailing me the CD to fix the problem. At no cost! I will have to deal with the pop up for the next couple of days.
