Tolmezzo1,

Sounds like you're getting feedback from the AV system.  Hard to pinpoint from afar.  Does it make a difference whether the laptop is running on battery or AC adapter?  Do you have a microphone or cordless mouse connected to the laptop?

Had something similar with a desktop connected to a CNC machine tool.  Could program the CNC with the laptop with no problem.  Connected desktop and Serial I/O card blew out.  Turned out that the desktop had to be plugged into the CNC's AC outlet.  When plugged into a regular wall AC outlet, there was a 67-volt AC differential between machine tool chassis and desktop chassis.  Hazardous to one's health to say the least.  You may be experiencing something similar.

Thnks Tony,
Tried both on battery and w/ A/C adapter and got save results. And I know that their laptops work w/ the system.
What is the fix, anybody know?

Tolmezzo1,

Did a little research.  Ran across this "Crash Loop with Powerpoint and Projector" discussion on Microsoft Office Discussion Group:  http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx?query=LCD+projectors&dg=&cat=en-us-office&lang=en&cr=US&pt=3a4e9862-cdce-4bdc-8664-91038e3eb1e9&catlist=&dglist=&ptlist=&exp=&sloc=en-us

Note in particular the last few posts by Steve House and Doug Davis.  Also note that several posts said they experienced the same problem with Dell laptops.  May be some clues as to how to solve your problem among these posts.

Let me know what you think.  Also, would like to know if you're connecting laptop's sound output (line or headphone) to the projector's audio-visual system?  I assume you're using regular external monitor output (Analog VGA) to drive the projector(s).

Tony,
Thanks for the research and feedback. And, I have no audio connection and the usual external connection.
What bugs me is that in some cases it works fine, and sometimes not.
Naturally I got bounced from MS (not S/W they say) to Dell (not H/W?). Obviously there is something they are not telling, since what's the use of having PowerPoint and not being able to connect to ANY projector!
I'll keep investigating and try different connection options to try to clear this.
Any suggestion on your part is very welcome.

Tolmezzo1,

Same here.  Will keep this thread reminder in my Inbox while I ask other techs and PowerPoint users if they have had or seen similar problems and what their thoughts are on this matter.

The 610 Lats have been freaky for sure.  What video driver version(s) are you guys using?  Have you tried different VGA cables?  Is this happening with every projector or certain models?  What screen resolution is being sent to the projector?  Have you tried connecting to monitors?

Ok......I don't where I got the Lat 610 thought from.  If you only have a problem when connecting to an AV system you need to check with the operator/manager since you most likely are not connecting directly to the projector but through a switcher.  I would need to know what is in the signal flow between your computer and the projector to troubleshoot.

Sorry for late reply. Thanks for your e-mail:
I have a 630, not 610
I have not tried different VGA cables since the cable is on the side of the customer projector
Works fine on some projectors and not on others
Monitors are not an issue, projectors are.

I have a .dmp file, but I'm not able to read it.
Any suggestions? Thanks
