Print Screen?

I have both a Dimension desktop and a new Inspiron laptop. I'm trying to print a screen on the laptop to satisfy rebate requirements for Norton Internet Security software. I follow the instructions to print the screen on my laptop.......it does not work. The laptop is operating wireless in my home w/ an excellent connection. I tried the same procedure on my desktop and it works!. I'm confused. Any explanations?

The recommended procedure: Hit the Alt/Print Screen keys(selects the active box); paste to a document(Microsoft Word); print. I get the desired box on the desktop, but only a small icon on the laptop indicating "paste options". Selecting an option still results in nothing.

baldnlean, Try pasting the image into Microsoft Paint rather than Word and printing it from there.

Are you able to print other things from your laptop? If it won't print anything then you probably need to install it as a network printer. It sounds sort of like my setup, where I have a desktop PC connected to a local printer and a wireless router to my laptop. It was a bit of a pain to get the laptop/printer talking to each other but it works now. I have to leave the desktop PC on to print anything on the laptop, since that is how it is connected to my home network.

If that doesn't work you can probably save your print screen image to a file, burn it to a CD, take it to the desktop PC and print it from there.

If you still want to get the printer talking to your laptop I found a few good threads on the Wireless Networking forum that may help you out. It seems a lot of the problems stem from the Windows firewall blocking communication between things. Read through this thread which may offer some useful tips: Wireless Printer Networking
