In MS Word, Click on File then Page Setup. That will allow you to define the "page" that you want for your project. I don't know if you can set up a custom size, the same as an envelope but this is the place that it's done.
Firebird: Thank you, THANK YOU. I can't believe it was this simple...yes I can. In the end the solution always is! Again, thank you. It worked beautifully!
That will work ... but the easiest and proper way is
with Tools, Letters and Mailing, Envelopes and Labels
Set your envelope size under the Options button
You can print either just a Return Address
or just a Delivery Address or both as needed
Word can also use your Outlook Address Book
so you can select your delivery address info dirrectly
from that if you want to or type in the delivery
address manually.
If you read my first post carefully, you'll see I've been doing exactly what you suggest---and that's where I can only print ONE envelope at a time. I tried Fireberd's suggestion, studied the dialogue boxes carefully, and through that found a good solution.
Also, if I may throw a bit of advice your way: For a Mere User there is no such thing as "the proper way" when it comes to using computer programs and getting them to do what you want them to do. There is only "what works." S#$*! proper! You gotta be creative. For everything you want to do on your computer there are at least 2 different ways to do it, and in many cases, a lot more. None of them are "proper."
All of them are different possibilities. We go with the possibility that works.
Thanks for taking the time to reply--I really do appreciate it. And I hope I haven't overstepped my bounds. It's just that I couldn't help "reading into" what you wrote and tossing my two cents into the spirit of that message.

Hello Fireberd - I tried your way again at work today and found a whole bunch of other stuff new to me that will make my envelope printing tasks really, really easy. Thanks again so much!
I just got a Cannon MP 460 All in one Photo Printer and when I try to print an envelope it is at the top and off the envelope. I use Create a card for envelopes. I don't see how to do it from MS Word.
You need to be in a WORD document--at least this is the only
way I know how to print envelopes from WORD.
Click on TOOLS, near the bottom of the dropdown menu click on
Letters and Mailings, then on Envelopes & Mailings. The window
that comes up will guide you through all the different choices.
But, as far as I can figure, this only allows you to print one
envelope at a time.
