Thanks so much for the quick response. Unfortunately we have once again missed the mark. I purchased SOFTWARE not HARDWARE from Dell and the site you referenced is for registering hardware. Perhaps you can get a sense of my frustration with this issue and Dell. If you are unable to assist me perhaps you could direct me to the appropriate person.

I am sorry to be totally inexperienced in asking for help in a forum.. is recognised by Dell support and fulfills the eligibility criteria.. All my attempts to order the free Win7 upgrade end with the message "The system is not in our database. Please verify that you have entered the correct service tag and review the eligibility criteria. If you feel you have reached this in error, please have your receipt available and contact Dell. ". Please let me know wjat I should do to get this Service Tag in "their database". All help is appreciated.

I checked several other Dell forums and it looks like Dell has a habit of not following up on customer service issues. Does anyone have any contact info for someone at Dell who can actually fix a problem?
I am having problems with the Win7 site. I just ordered 2 new laptops which were both eligible for upgrade. The first one went through, but it only gave me the option to upgrade in French (not sure why that is, but I'm not french I'm from the US). The second laptop isn't found in the database. I bought them both on the same day (12/9/09).
I have tried all of the help numbers, but not much luck. Your help would be appreciated.
Phillips - I feel your pain, I tried emails and different phone calls for about 3 days, but no luck. Finally, I got an email from the Windows 7 upgrade site - it didn't help me of course, but it did have a phone number to call (800-624-9897). To my shock I called that number, weaved through some menus and finally got to someone who actually helped me. She stayed on the phone with me for 25 minutes until we got the entire thing figured out. Of course, something was screwed up on Dell's end, but at least she was willing to help.

Hello Dell.....can you hear me????? Help! Help me get the windows 7 upgrade that you promised me. Just ignoring me won't make me a repeat customer.
