Problem running XP on XPS M1330

My laptop comes with Vista and i had no option to put XP on it. but i am an engineer and my programs do not run on Vista. I format my hard and install XP on it. first i needed to change SATA settings on bios for xp to detect my hard dervies. second, now that i have installed XP nothing is working properly. my sound card, is not installed and i can not hypernate or put laptop in sleep mode. this is while i have installed the 14 recomanded drives from dell site.
Does this laptop supports XP? if so what shall i do to operate it?

Did you install the chipset driver? And does this system require Dell Laptop System Software? Both should be on the Drivers & Download page for this model.

The correct order is:
XP
Laptop System Software (if any)
Chipset driver
Video driver
Audio driver
Network driver
etc.

the problem is that this laptop is designed for windows vista. the drivers are not availbe in dell supoport site. however compatible drivers are availibe in the internet. i went to the thread below and now i have no problem(except that connect tray program for wireless network does not respond after 15min when windows is controling the wireless network).
in here poeple who want to install xp on m1330 xps has been able to resolve the problem
quite a long thread, on page 5, the final problem has been resolved.

Just a thought. You could try installing XP on a virtual PC.

Virtual PC is free.

Better Get a copy while you still can.

Doesn't Vista have a compatibility mode you can set to allow it to run XP software?

XP has a compatibility mode that lets you run things as old as Win95 software.
