Problem with my Desktop Icons

Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if this is the proper board for this question, however my PC was recently infected with the Spyshredder rogue anti-spyware. I'm not sure how it got into the PC, but I believe I have fully removed it using my anti-virus and anti-spyware programs. However, it left a noticable, but not a performance-hampering problem.

My desktop icons seem to be messed up. Each one of them has a blue "shadow" or "highlight" around them, as if someone had highlighted all of them. It's a blue color, and solid, so that you can't see any of the desktop behind it. I've tried unlocking the web items, checking to see if there was an active desktop (which there were none), and going into the system applet, looking under the advanced tab, going to the settings, and then checking the "Use drop shadows for the icon labels on the desktop." No luck at all.

Is there anyone able to solve this problem for me? It's quite annoying. :)

Go to Start - rigjt click properties
on the System Proerties go to the Advanced Tab
Under Performance click on Settings
Select Adjust for best appearance or select custom and check on the list the option Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop

No dice. It seems the solid "highlight" is still there. :(
