Problem with new Windows Update Intel G33/G31 express chipset update
I have Vista Home Premium with an Inspiron 531 desktop and just downloaded this new update.
When I restarted my computer everything from icons to email is in mice type. Even my default fonts
look different. I've spent hours trying to make my computer screens look like they did before without
success. I finally gave up and used a restore point to get rid or the update. It looks like the update is
related to gaming. I just use my computer for e-mail, surfing, and writing basic documents. Do
I even need this update? I have a widescreen monitor if that makes a difference. Thanks.

Not all updates are needed by all PC's. Some updates fix problems, but some only add support for newer hardware, etc. If the description of the update does not affect anything you have now or are contemplating getting it's not really needed.
Bottom line and the old adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

off the download list or it seems like I'll be dealing with this on a daily basis. There's probably a simple
solution but I've never run into this before.

HERE is how to "hide" an update. You won't be asked again on the hidden update.
