Problem with WinXP Update KB913446

I had the same problem. It's a problem with the update and automatic updates. Microsoft is aware of the problem and working on it. You can manually download it here.

I was able to download 913446 ("download succeeded") the first time, but then it failed to install. I went back to the MS update site and it scanned my system and indicated that this update was needed. It downloaded again and appears to have installed ok this time.

I noticed that the screen blanked for a second during the original attempt to install it, so I suspect that's when the failure occurred. Maybe 913446 requires the other updates to be installed and the system rebooted before it can be installed.

I have two entries for this update in the "review your update history". One says "succeeded" with source Window Update. The other says "cancelled" with source Automatic Update. Glad I'm not the only one with a problem. Spent last 1 1/2 hours trying to figure it out. Wish there was a way to delete the "cancelled" entry.

Two failed attempts yesterday to download KB913446, tried again this morning and it downloaded and installed.
