This is the update that may be your problem, I saw this on my automatic updates this morning, I always read the documentation for each patch before installing them, I decided not to include this one since I was not having the problem decribed in the article, and it was not a security update. If it ain't broke don't fix it.. I can always install it later if the issue arises..

My computer doesn't seem to have downloaded that one -- it doesn't appear in the add/remove program window. That one also appears to have been available for a month or so. Any other suggestions as to what I can try?

Some hotfixs are not removeable, you can search your hard drive for the http.sys file that was replaced by this update (should be in the Windows/system32/drivers), when you find it right click on it and do a properties, look at the version of this http.sys file, if it is version 5.1.2600.2869 then you have the patch installed.  Let me know what version you have

Thanks for the help. I was finally able to remedy the problem by using System Restore. I've since changed my preferences to not automatically install the updates as well.

Thanks again for the assistance.
