Problems listening to radio stations using Firefox

With Windows Explorer I have no problems listening to radio stns using BBC radio player or Windows media player/Real player. When I use Firefox (all the links/favourites were transfered) I have the following problems:-

BBC radio player works but none of the page controls do ie, volume etc.

Windows Media/Real player won't connect or play. This message is displayed, "File has an extension which does not match the file format".

I am missing out on my music folks.

I had the same problem watching movies. The problem is that Firefox doesn't have the plugin for Windows Media. Type about:plugins into the URL bar and you'll see all the plugins you have and there will be nothing for Windows Media.

All you have to do is get the correct dlls below

* npdsplay.dll: http://www.dlldump.com/dllfiles/N/npdsplay.dll (this is the updated version)
* npwmsdrm.dll: http://www.dlldump.com/dllfiles/N/npwmsdrm.dll
* npdrmv2.dll: http://www.dlldump.com/dllfiles/N/npdrmv2.dll

and dumpt them into your Firefox/plugins folder.

Close and restart firefox and you'll be able to use Media Player.

That's what I did and it worked well. For the full explanation go here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=206213

Take care

'risrik', many thanks for the imfo'. Ple excuse my continued ignorance as I am fairly new to this computer lark. Your links ask to 'run or save'. In the past I have only used 'run' where everything happens in spite of me. So which should I use and if 'save', where?, and how do I direct the plugins to the Firefox folder.

Much appreciated, PJ.

Hey,

Save each of the three dll files directly to your Mozilla Firefox/plugins folder OR save them to your desktop (or wherever you want), then cut and paste all three into the Mozilla Firefox/plugins folder.

Close Firefox if it was open and restart. You should have no problems.

Good luck!

Hi Risrik, Thanks, I am going to give it a try. Why do I need 3 plugins, what does each one do, I don,t need video/movies, just music and radio.
