Problems Loading igfxtray.exe and Error with Con. Panel

Hello,

I have two main problems with this computer and I haven't found anything on the web to help solve them.

My first problem is during start up.When I log in an error message pops up saying it can't load igfxtray.exe.I have no idea what this program does, but having the error there everytime I boot up is very annoying.

My second problem is with the control panel.Every time I launch it and error pops up and this is exactly what it says: "An error has occured while Windows was working with the Control Panel file C:\WINDOWS\System32\igfxcpl.cpl." Again,I've looked on Google for this and still no problem solving results.

Any help with either of these problems will be greatly appreciated.

goldfinger88,

You can find some basic information on the igfxtray.exe file . It is used to provide quick access to Intel graphics drivers in integrated graphics (so it is unnecessary if you are using a video adapter rather than the Intel integrated graphics). You may be able to find a listing for it on the Startup tab (Start|Run, enter msconfig and click OK) in which case you can uncheck it.

If you are not using onboard graphics the information here may be helpful.
