Problems Problems Blue Screen Error Message STOP X00000027
Since purchasing my Dell Inspiron 6000 which comes with a NEC DVD+-RW ND6650A DVD/CDRW, I have had problems burning data to CDRW discs. If I tried to use the Microsoft wizard the system indicated that there was not a disc in the drive. If I used the Sonic software which came with the notebook, I could save the data, but when you open the data from the disc, it indicates that the data is read only, so that you cannot edit it and overwrite the data. I have spoken twice with Dell Support who have indicated that it is a software conflict and not a problem with the drive.
I therefore decided to purchase Roxio Media Creator Suite 8 as I thought that this might solve the problem and help me to overwrite data on discs.
I have just uninstalled the Sonic software and installed the Roxio software which seemed to go OK.
However, I can now burn data to a CDRW and when I look at the properties it does not show that it is a read only document, but if I edit the document and try to save the changes the PC crashes and I get the following blue screen error.
STOP 0X00000027 (COXBAAD00A0) (OXF2B023E4) (OXFBD20E0) (OXF5A2ZA555)
CUUDF_XP.sys
Address F5A2A 555
based at F59E6000
Date stamp 435B12c3
I am hoping the above means something to someone as it means nothing to me. The error message also suggests if you have recently installed new software that you uninstall the software and reinstall which I have tried. It also suggests uninstalling the software and disabling BIOS memory options such as cashing or shadowing. However not knowing anything about BIOS I am reluctant to try this.
Is there anyone that can help? I have tried looking on the message boards and also on the Roxio web site but to no avail.

It soouinds like you are trying to use CDRW discs like a floppy diskette. Although it would seem that you can, a CDRW is not designed to be used in that way.
You should reconsider how you are using the CDRW media and consider a different method of temporary file storage. Also, do not have your "only copy" of data on an RW disc as they are known to lose format and/or data.
BTW, Roxio is owned by Sonic and many of the modules in Roxio are actually Sonic modules.

Many thanks for your help.
The Roxio Media Creator Suite 8 software instructions seem to indicate that I should be able to overwrite data. I have received a reply back from the Roxio Help Support and they have suggested that I may have multiple packet writing programmes installed on my computer such as Drag-To-Disk, DLA, Nero InCD and Direct CD. Apparently I can only have one installed.
I thought when I uninstalled the Sonic software that came with the PC that I had uninstalled all writing programmes. I will have to have another look to make sure nothing else is installed. If you have any suggestions how I find other writing programes that may be installed I would be most grateful.
Once again thanks for your reply.

Since you got Sonic with your new PC, you may still have the Sonic DLA program installed. You should be able to uninstall that thorugh the Add/Remove software.
Roxio is correct that only one "UDF" or "Packet" program can be on the PC or it can cause conflicts. One other thing you may want to do if you are going to use a packet writing program such as the Roxio "drag to disc" is to disable the built in Windows XP CD burning as that has known to interfere too.
But again, and this has been reiterated by several forum experts, the CDRW discs and the packet writing software is the most unreliable CD burning and really should be avoided.
