There should be an option to remove the partiton. Once you do that then you will be given the option to create a partiton and install windows on that partition. That is what you need to do.

Brendulichka,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

If you are wanting to do a clean install you will want to remove that partition and then recreate it and allow the system to format and install the software.

I'll be back if not working yet! THANKS

HELP!

http://www.windowsreinstall.com/winxphome/installxpcdoldhdd/part5.htm

Reinstall let me only get to part 6, then it shut down, restarted with XP and now I have only 16 bit and 640x840 resolution which won't let me change it.

I never went through the INSTALL part!  And my computer appears totally cleaned off - nothing was left but XP didn't go through the INSTALL part...

Now what?

Are you on your desktop now? you still need to install your drivers using your Resource CD.

Follow the reinstall guide(link below) by providing your servicetag, you need to install the chipset, video, audio, nic(if you have one), modem drivers.

Thanks all.
Thanks to some of you (STEVE!!) I found the Dell links and burned the drivers from a friend's computer.

I'm up and running - still missing one driver however at the same time burned a bunch of other diagnostic and other utilities that may be useful AND updated the BIOS.

Thanks all for your help.
