problems uninstalling DeadAim completely

I had DeadAim4.5 installed on my computer but I didnt' like it so I uninstalled using Add/Remove. However, even after I did that, I get the DeadAim smilies loading in AIM (which I've had to uninstall and reinstall). Did Windows miss a file somewhere during the uninstall of DeadAim? This is giving me a huge headache because it seems to be somehow linked to another problem I'm experiencing - "restoration incomplete" messages when I try to do a system restore. I figure that would be the best way to deal with the DeadAim problem but since I can't do a system restore for some reason, I'm stuck. I've already looked at the system error logs, but that didn't help me.

I have an Inspiron 2650, which has been nothing but problems from day one. Dell refused to help me when it was still under warranty so I basically got stuck with this.

In the case of DeadAim, your problem is software related, and third party software related at that, so you're basically on your own as far as dealing with any problems that arise as a result of installation, if the providers of the software don't see fit to offer adequate support.  You might try uninstalling and reinstalling AIM, and see if that gets rid of the leftovers from DeadAim, but there are no guarantees that this will work.  There appear to be a number of reported issues with that application, from what I could see through a quick Google search, and from the looks of things, this boils down to it just being a case of poorly engineered software.

If all else fails (and particularly if you're currently working without the option of performing a system restore), you might just want to consider wiping the drive, reinstalling Windows and avoiding the installation of any poorly engineered (and/or supported) software.
