Broadband modems don't really need any drivers and the software is probably not Vista compatible so won't install. If you can connect to Internet, you are OK. The only driver you have to have is your ethernet card that connects to the modem. Your disconnection problem is most likely a firewall or other security setting.

Do a System Restore back to a time befor you started to install the modem to get to a clean state, so to speak.

Power down EVERYTHING, power up the modem and let it stablize with the service (about 2-3 minutes).  Connect the modem to the PC and start the PC.

You should connect and stay connected.

Can you give us the specs for your computer ie model number
mine is A Dell Dimension 8400 with the eht card built on the mother board.
With the model # we can look it up on dell support and see if it has eht card

Indicate this is a Private Network since you are behind a router that is built into that modem.

Hi are you saying that your broadband will only connect using a USB CONNECTION ????
[if so you may not get it to work right] ,
if i were you i would go into the power setup and see if there is a setting that lets your USB devices go to sleep after a set time { if there is i would turn it off} and see if that helps your problem !!!! I wish you good luck it looks like you may need it and go to your internet provider and see if they have a fix for you, other wise this is looking bad for you,
again GOOD LUCK please let us know if you get this to work as it might help some one in the future
with the same problem.

USB modems are flaky at best.  Spend a few dollars and get a modem with an ethernet port so you can use a good router.
