Open IE go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced Tab, look for and Un Tick "enable third party browser extensions", hit OK, close all instances of IE7, restart the program. While you are in the advanced section scroll down and Tick "empty temp internet files folder when browser is closed" also.
Hi thanks for the replies. I've done what has been suggested and even uninstalled the Yahoo Widget engine but things are just the same. As booting up isn't a problem I haven't changed anything in the boot up sequence. I'm tempted to do another system restore. I'm not sure though because I did one about 10 days ago and the first thing I installed was IE7 and it still took a long toime to connect! The only thing I'm thinking about now is when the PC first re boots after the system restore XP asks how you plan to connect to the internet now usually I select DSL and follow the next instructions. But! the last time I'm sure I just selected 'next' as I couldn't see the point in that bit? Right that's it I'm going to try a system restore AGAIN and see hwat that does! I'll be back on here with the results (hopefully) Thanks again!
Well that didn't work either! I have noticed though in the Network Connections an Internet Gateway Icon that I'm sure wasn't there before! The other icon is th LAN or High Speed Internet.
