Do I have to use a Certificate? I followed the instructions on the KB article, but I don't know what service to email the request to. Is there a fee involved. I really only want to use IIS on this machine to learn to create web services. I'm not really going to publishing to the outside world.

Did you ever find an answer to this? I have the same problem and was curious re: certificate for testing purposes only.

Thanks!

I have finally fixed my problem that I think a lot of you are having with IIS and Windows XP Pro! After searching and searching through various forums (with no answers by the way) and speaking with a tech guy with our web host company (who was completely at awe at why it wouldn't work since he went over everything with me), I had a hunch about a lot of the posts I was reading. A lot of people with the same problem had new Dell or Gateway computers with pre-installed OS's and pre-installed McAfee. So I uninstalled McAfee (exiting it or disabling it doesn't work) and would you believe it worked right away?

So for any of you out there that still has McAfee installed and want to use IIS, get rid of it!

Hope this helps!
