Problems with reinstallation

How I miss format c:
Anyway, I went through the first 3 parts of the Reinstallation CD Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition. But, it keeps rebooting the PC at 'Installing Windows'. I get to about 34 minutes left, the screen blinks a couple of times, then it reboots and I'm back to 'Installing windows' on the next startup with the message that always preceeds 'Setup is being restarted.' The process continues that loop.
Do I have a faulty reinstall disk?
I unplugged all USB connections.
Tried reinstalling in VGA mode.
Is there a download for a reainstall disk so I can make another one?
Any utilities that I should know about?
I have no restore points.
I do have McAfee anti virus and firewall installed.

I have a dimension 4400.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

You are on the right track as this is usually a hardware-related issue

If you are using a USB keyboard or mouse try with a PS2 instead

Also try removing any internal cards that are not required for setup, such as sound/network cards (but not video).

Hi,

Can I assume that you are booting to the XP CD?
