Process Performance Counter Disabled

I'm am using Sage's Act Version 8. During some of the process of this program, I get an error message: "Error occured while checking for schems changes: process performance counter is disabled, so the requested operation cannot be performed.

I've talked with Sage's tech support several times, each time they have refered it back to Microsoft as a Window issue.

They have forwarded me a link to Microsofts article ID# 300956 which discusses manually rebuilding the performance counters in the Registry.

I'm coming to you to determine if there is ANY other way to proceed with this, as working with the registry scares me to death!

try going into Windows Services and setting the service Performance Logs and Alerts to automatic. That is my best guess, assuming that is the performance counter that your program is saying is disabled.

one way to access services is go to Start_Run type services.msc
