Program listed three times

I have a program listed three times.
MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB925672)
MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB927978)
MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB936181)

The KB part is different though. What is this program?

They are all security updates from Microsoft.  Do a Google Search for each one and it will tell you what they are in more detail

Here's the reason why I bring this up. The program is listed in the add/remove programs list, but another program, ace utitlites, shows these three programs as invalid uninstallers.

Sorry, I'm at a lost since I no longer have XP, but Vista and nothing on the Microsoft web site that gives a clue to the invalid uninstaller unless it means you cannot uninstall it the normal way, and must use the restore program instead.  Someone else can try and weigh in with a possible answer.  Good luck

Yes - they are all from Microsoft. See here, here, and here.

So what is MSXML 4.0 used for?

I did a search on wikipedia.com and I read that this program is used for creating software programs? If I am right about that. If you're a software programmer, then you might use this? Do I really need this program? What question should I ask myself?

You can roll back with restore and get rid of that, and set the micorosoft updater to install only what you want to install and not have it set for Automatic instead.   Or, if it is not hurting anything, just leave it be.

I have the windows update set to mannual. I can always uninstall and then reinstall the programs, but I need to know what they are used for because it sounds like I don't need them from what I have read.

Thought you said you have it set to Manual, and I found this about Microsoft doing this without our knowledge on some other updates, and could be a reason why you got yours downloaded when you did not ask for it.  Not sure, but its just a little reading on what microsoft does sometimes for your Sunday reading pleasure.   :smileyhappy:

Those are not 'the same program listed three times', but three updates for the MSXML4 SP2 component of your Windows, as indicated by the three different KB numbers.
MSXML is a part of your system that other programs use to parse (read) xml files which contain information that program needs. Not all, but many programs use MSXML, which occurs in different versions, side by side (MSXML2, 3, 4,..). You need those. Do not remove them.

I don't know what ace utilities is telling you, but just ignore it.

I believe that I mentioned this in my first post, I'm in the process of removing invalid uninstallers for various programs because if I restart my computer, windows takes a few minutes to log off, save settings, and then restart. On another forum, I asked how a computer can get slow over time and I was told that windows looks for every program that you have installed. If windows can't find the program, it skips it,  but the process is slowed down. If I did uninstall those updates, couldn't I get them back again?

Yes. You can see if Microsoft Updates offers them again, or read these and download links are there too.
