Why not just use the Microsoft Installer version? It takes care of the installation!
However...
I've used it and removed it on a Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 system after an extremely serious problem involving it and ZoneAlarm 4 occurred. See
this thread in the Virus/Spyware board.
OK, Guys. . . Thanx for the advice. I did do the install-on-the-fly method to get UPHClean, and had no difficulty. I generally prefer to download to disk, then install manually so I can keep a copy of the original download for awhile, but in this case it didn't work out so good. Now I'll have to wait and see if UPHClean clears up my problem. I hope it's unrelated, but the first Excel workbook I opened after the UPHClean install was COMPLETELY wiped out! Totally unrecoverable. I do backups of most of my files twice daily to a CD.
I have about 70 different active Excel workbooks. Wouldn't you know that the ONLY one of those that I hadn't been backing up was the one that was demolished. It just somehow slipped through the cracks when I set up my backup procedures. Pffft!
I have had UPHclean on my XP home system for some time. It helps to shut down faster, and banishes userenv error logs. No problems when SP1, no probloems now SP2.
I got it from here, saved to hard drive and installed from there without problems (including ZA free various versions). I would be astonished if it had anything to do with your Excel problem. It is only acrive on shutdown.
