Very safe to use - never had a problem with my WACOM tablet.

What made you think the mouse problem was caused by your WACOM?

The events occured in this order.  I first lost the Wacom tablet pen.  I reinstalled it, then had a malfunction of a Microsoft Optical Intellimouse.  It started a fire that burned a cork pad..  Next, I tried to install the mouse used previously to the optical mouse., but it would not install.  The only cursor that worked was the Wacom tablet mouse.  In the microsoft knowledge base, the problem was identified as corruption of the mouse controller programs which had to be completely removed, not just installed.  The original serial port connected controller did work.  I am not at all certain that the tablet caused this troulble.  I doubt if I will ever use an optical mouse again.  This why I am asking for information.

Did you say your mouse caught fire?!  The problem might not have been caused by or a combination of the individual devices, but it is difficult to say for certain.  I have been running my various WACOM tablets with Logitech and Microsoft mice and trackballs (and even Synpatics notebook touchpad) for the past 4 years and they have been working harmoniously from the beginning.

esquire, that is comforting to know.  Wacom claims it works with existing mouse software.  The fire was caused by the optical mouse's track light.
